Majd Ariss, Ph.D.
I received my Masters at Georgetown University then my PhD at the University of Illinois at Chicago. During my time in Chicago, I employed single cell RNA-sequencing to characterize the impact of a Retinoblastoma mutation in individual cell types in the eye disc as well as understand the role of Amalgam in different glia. These works also generated a comprehensive single cell atlas for the third instar larval eye disc and glia. In the Perrimon Lab I intend to combine single cell RNA-sequencing with genetics to uncover the fat body-glia inter-organ communication network.
